Born from a desire to release real raw music from the aotearoa underground into the world, provide a stepping stone for undiscovered artists to traverse the great chasm between making tunes and people hearing them, an unquenchable love for hip hop, and grounded firmly in the south island bass music & festival community, a rag tag bunch of misfits got together to incubate what has become Rooster Records.We released this sloppy, juicy egg in a steamy all-night beats and freestyle session at the Rooster HQ (aka Amys Lounge) in Onekaka in 2024. With all the right elements combined, several mad tings, a couple of b2b2b2b2b’s at the Roots and several unreleased 4am mixtapes later we are now officially launched and on our way to our first vinyl release.
